NPFL Match Day 25 Preview: 5 Things To Look Out For

With the Nigerian professional football league reaching match day 25, here are five things to look forward to this weekend.

Boboye Eye Double Against Former Team
For a man who has spent less half a decade coaching in the Nigerian top flight, Kennedy boboye has been able to sink his teeth deep into the NPFL, coaching sunshine stars and Abia warriors respectively.
Kennedy Boboye (second from left) will look to win against his ex-team
While he jumped ship to coach in plateau united this season, the Port Harcourt born handler has been able to pick up maximum points against his former teams so far; 6 points against sunshine stars scoring five goals in the process and a home win against Abia warriors .

He will however need to be careful as his team are up against a wounded Abia warriors who lost in the Abia derby to Enyimba last week.

It is also important to note that they are now coached by Abdullahi Biffo who grew up in Jos and knows plateau team very well.

Remo Stars Hit Purple Patch
Since gaining promotion to the top flight, Remo stars have really struggled to adapt to the rigors of playing in the top flight.
Action from Remo Stars 1-0 win over Nassarawa United
The Sagamu based team have been at the basement of the NPFL log for over half of the season until they finally vacated that spot last weekend, leaving it for shooting stars to occupy.

This is as a result of the three game unbeaten run put together by the Fatai Osho’s team. They claimed maximum points against Gombe and Nasarawa united while earning a draw at the umuahia township stadium against Abia warriors.

As the face El-Kanemi Warriors, there are reasons for optimism though as the Maiduguri based side have not won in their last three games and the players are said to have been kept on half salaries.

Nwangwa To Continue Fine Form For Pillars
Nyima Nwangwa is the name making every Kano pillars fan wax lyrical about their team. Since signing from Lobi stars in the mid-season break, the young forward has scored 3 goals in his last 4 matches.
His goals have proved pivotal to the "sai maisugida" going unbeaten in the last 3 matches. He has come into the pillars fold with a lot of attacking attributes compared to what they had in Adamu Mohammed, Kabiru Balogun and Gambo Mohammed.

His goals would definitely come in handy when the face goal shy MFM who coincidentally have just scored 3 goals in their last 6 matches.

Can Sunshine Cope After The Ban?
How bad can it get for sunshine stars is the question on everyone lips. From unpaid salaries, to selling key players like Olorunlake Ojo, Austin Eguavoen resigning and most importantly, being banished to play at the Otunba Dipo stadium in Ogun State.
How will Sunshine react after a turbulent start to the season?
They really are at their lowest ebb over there in Akure. The good thing for them though is that they face a Gombe united team who like them are also struggling and can also take solace in the fact that they scored two goals more than the savanna scorpions.

Fatai Amoo 3 Match Ultimaturm Begins
The last coach to get a three game ultimatum in the NPFL was rangers acting technical adviser- Chukwuma Agbo. Guess what, he went unbeaten in all three; two draws and one win.
Under fire Fatai Amoo will be hoping for a good run to keep his job
Earlier this week, the general manager at 3SC told Fatai Amao that he has three matches to save his job. Unlike what Agbo had at Rangers, the calibre of personnels at shooting stars are definitely not up to the standard of Rangers.

Even though they face a pretty easy home match against ABS FC this weekend, one just can see any light at the end of the tunnel for a side that has lost 3 of their last five matches.
