Auba Finishes As Bundesliga's Top Scorer, First African In 24 Years To Win The Torjägerkanone

Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has finished as the top scorer of the 2016/2017 Bundesliga season.

Aubameyang had 29 goals going into the final game against Werder Bremen and knew he needed two goals to pip Robert Lewandowski to the award who was on 30 and gunning for a hat-trick of the award.

The player would grab a brace in the 4-3 game taking his tally to 31 and out-rightly winning the award. His first goal coming in before the break and the award tie-breaker in the 89th minute from the penalty spot.

He would become the first African player to win the Torjägerkanone since Ghana's Anthony Yeboah in the 1992/1993 season, a feat the Ghanaian would repeat the following season*

Dortmund's 4-3 win ensured the club finished in third position and qualify automatically for UCL group stages over Hoffenheim who were unable to win their own game against Augsburg.

*- Anthony Yeboah shared the award in both seasons he emerged top scorer.
