Manchester United fans are convinced the club has accidentally confirmed Wayne Rooney's time at Old Trafford is up.

The 31-year-old forward, who is the Red Devils' all time leading scorer with 253 goals, has struggled for game time this season under Jose Mourinho.

He is widely tipped to leave the side he has represented since 2004, with suitors keeping tabs on him including his former club Everton and teams in China.

Rooney has yet to publicly confirm whether he will be staying or leaving, ambiguously stating that he has "more or less" decided his future.

But United fans think the club may have dropped a huge hint that he is indeed on his way out with their recent Facebook activity.

Eagled-eyed fans who spend a lot of time on Man United's social media channels noticed that the club have changed their cover image.
