Winners!!! Man Utd Win Europa League Final, Secure Champions League Football

Ajax vs Man Utd 0-2
Man Utd won the Europa League final with a 2-0 victory over Ajax in Stockholm. The win ensured the Red Devils got their second major trophy and a guaranteed place in Champions League football next season.

The Red Devils went ahead in the 18th minute after a Paul Pogba deflected shot went past the Ajax goalie. The French midfielder was afforded time on the ball by Ajax captain Davy Klaassen and the 20-yard shot was helped by a huge deflection off Davinson Sanchez.

Henrikh Mhkhitaryan grabbed his sixth goal of the campaign in the 48th minute with a nice flick into the net after Chris Smalling had headed the ball down into his path from a corner. The Armenian struggled in the first half but showed what a priceless poacher's instinct he has, swooping from close range for another Europa League goal.

It would be the goal the Red Devils needed as they looked to okay to concede possession to Ajax.

Lingard had a chance to make it 3-0 on the night when he rushed clear on goal but slowed down his pace a bit to allow the returning Ajax defender to muscle him off the ball.

Wayne Rooney made a brief appearance as a substitute with a minute left and the game won, being handed the captain's armband by Antonio Valencia on what could well be his farewell appearance for United.

And as the final whistle sounded and United's celebrations began, chants of "Manchester" rang around the Friends Arena in tribute to those who died and were injured in the attack which cast a shadow over this showpiece occasion.

It means United are now the fifth team to claim the full quota of European trophies, joining an illustrious list with Ajax, Chelsea, Juventus and Bayern Munich.
