Today's Gossip: Reds Battle United For Bayern Duo; Chelsea Flop Completes Juve Switch

Manchester United and Liverpool have been handed hope of signing two long-term targets from Bayern Munich, while the futures of Bernando Silva and Angel Di Maria is also up in the air, according to Monday’s European media.

Manchester United And Liverpool Sounded Over Possible Bayern Swoops
Bayern Munich have reportedly put Douglas Costa and Renato Sanches up for sale this summer.

Reports in the German media suggest the pair have been made available after failing to claim a regular place in Carlo Ancelotti’s side this season.
Costa is a long-term target of Liverpool, while Tottenham are also credited with an interest and it’s believed he could leave the Allianz Arena if an offer of £30million comes in for the winger.

Sanches, meanwhile, was very much on Manchester United’s radar last summer, but instead was sold to Bayern who acted quickly to sign him from Benfica.

It’s believed Jose Mourinho will come back in for him should Bayern give them the opportunity at the second time of asking.

Costa made 23 Bundesliga appearances, scoring four times this season, while Sanches played 17 times in the German top flight this campaign.

But with Kingsley Coman and Joshua Kimmich the duo Ancelotti favours in midfield, and with Javi Martinez backed to replace Xabi Alonso following the Spaniard’s retirement, it seems the way is clear for Costa and Sanches to leave.

Man Utd Launch £60m Bid For PSG Defender
Manchester United are reported to have made the first move to sign in-demand defender Marquinhos by lodging a £60m bid for the PSG star.
Spanish newspaper Sport claim Jose Mourinho’s side have made an offer of €69.4million to bring the defender to the Premier League – a deal which would break the world-record fee ever spent on a defender if the deal were to go through.

The current record actually belongs to PSG, who spent £50million to bring Marquinhos’ Brazil team-mate David Luiz to the club from Chelsea back in 2014.

United are vying with Barcelona and Real Madrid to sign the versatile Brazilian star, who can operate either at the centre of defence in a flat four, as part of a three-man defensive unit, or as a right-back.

Sport believes PSG are keen to keep hold of the defender, but United’s desire to spend huge money on luring him to Old Trafford means they will likely be swayed into the sale.

Marquinhos, who has 17 caps for his country, joined PSG in a €31.4million deal from Roma in July 2013.

He has made more than 150 appearances for the Ligue 1 side and is contracted to the club until 2019.

United And City In Talks For Monaco Star
Manchester United and Manchester City are both reportedly in advanced talks over the potential signing of Monaco star Bernardo Silva.
The 22-year-old has been one of European football’s star performers this season, guiding his side to a French league title and a Champions League semi-final spot.

The Portugal midfielder has scored 11 goals and provided 12 assists for Monaco this campaign, and that has not only alerted the Manchester giants but also Real Madrid and Barcelona.

Monaco president Vadim Vasilyev has already revealed that many of the club’s stars will be moved on this summer, as reported in Calciomercato, and it looks as if Silva will be one of the first to go, should the report in Le10Sport prove be accurate.

Psg Star Keen On Real Madrid Return
Paris St-Germain winger Angel di Maria is keen for a return to Real Madrid to fill the void which will be left by the departure of James Rodriguez.

Rodriguez looks certain to leave The Bernabeu this summer and that will create a void in the creative midfield department that di Maria would love to fill, according to Don Balon.
The 29-year-old spent four years in Madrid, scoring 22 goals in 124 La Liga appearances before joining Manchester United for £59.7million in 2014.

After just one season at Old Trafford the Argentina international headed to PSG but it would now seem that he favours a move back to Spain.

However, it was common knowledge that Di Maria had issues with the Real hierachy, which led to his exit first time around, and he would have to resolve them before any return to the recently crowned La Liga champions.

Gael Clichy Appears To Signal The End
Gael Clichy has reportedly confirmed he is leaving Manchester City.

The 31-year-old left-back was one of a number of players at the Etihad Stadium coming out of contract this summer.
City have not confirmed the Frenchman’s departure but the former Arsenal defender spoke at a fans’ question-and-answer event.

Asked whether he might be playing alongside goalkeeper Joe Hart, who is currently on loan at Torino, next season, Clichy reportedly said: “It’s hard. I’m not sure whether or not Joe will be here next season, and I won’t be here next season.”

Frenchman Clichy joined City from the Gunners in a £7million deal in 2011. He featured in the Premier League triumphs of 2012 and 2014 and also won the League Cup twice with City, in 2014 and 2016.

Chelsea Finalise £17.3m Juan Cuadrado Sale
Juan Cuadrado has completed his move to Juventus, with the Colombia star signing a three-year deal and for a fee of £17.3million.

The Italian champions confirmed the news on their website on Monday evening, with the deal for the 28-year-old being paid in three installments.
The statement read: “Juventus announces that, following the meeting of the conditions provided by the contract, its obligation to definitively acquire the registration rights of Juan Cuadrado from Chelsea became due.

“The permanent transfer fee of €20 million is to be paid in three annual instalments starting from the 2017/2018 financial year.

“The 28-year-old forward has signed a contract that ties him to the Bianconeri until 30 June 2020.”

Cuadrado joined the Blues in a £23.4million deal from Fiorentina in February 2014 – but his chances at Stamford Bridge were limited with Jose Mourinho only affording him four Premier League starts.

The player moved to Juventus that summer, where he helped his club to the Serie A title, before he returned to London last summer where then new Blues boss Antonio Conte expressed a desire to keep him.

However, the reinvention of Victor Moses as a right wing-back essentially spelt the end of Cuadrado’s hopes and he was allowed to return to Juve on what was a three-year loan deal.

However, that move has now become permanent with Cuadrado now officially signing up with the Bianconeri.

Barkley Ready For Everton Exit
England midfielder Ross Barkley is ready to leave Everton, and both Manchester United and Tottenham are watching developments with interest, according to the Mirror.
It reports that Barkley failed to meet manager Ronald Koeman's demand for him to clarify by Monday whether he would sign a £100,000-a-week contract. Because there has been "no commitment either way from his representatives, it is likely Barkley will be given until later in the week to make a final decision," the report adds.

But it now "appears the 23-year-old is contemplating turning his back on the £5 million-a-year deal." That will alert both Jose Mourinho and Mauricio Pochettino, the Mirror writes, and both "could be persuaded to bid £20m for a player with one year left on his current contract."

Koeman is already considering midfield reinforcements, with Davy Klaassen of Ajax and Swansea's Gylfi Sigurdsson among the players he hopes to bring to Goodison Park.

Chelsea And Monaco To Begin Bakayoko Talks
Earlier this month, reports suggested Chelsea were firmly in the market for Monaco's Tiemoue Bakayoko, and now the Mail reports that talks between the clubs are set to start.
Bakayoko, who has two years remaining on his contract with the new French champions, has also been linked with Manchester United and Liverpool. But the Mail reports that Chelsea "are favourites to sign the France international," adding that discussions with his representatives have already taken place.

It writes that the Blues "are expected to offer £40m" and could allow Nemanja Matic to move to United if Bakayoko arrives.

Monaco plan to replace him with Anderlecht's Youri Tielemans and the Mirror states that "a £21m move is set to be finalised next week."

Meanwhile, Michy Batshuayi -- whose goal secured the Premier League title -- could be plying his trade elsewhere next season, according to the Mirror. It writes that promoted Newcastle hope to sign the £33m striker on a seasonlong loan deal.

Defoe Closes In On Bournemouth Switch
Jermain Defoe is set to sign for Bournemouth, where he had a spell on loan as a West Ham youngster back in 2000, the Telegraph reports.
Bournemouth and the Hammers were the clubs most strongly linked with the England striker, who can leave Sunderland on a free transfer after their relegation, but the Londoners did not follow up earlier interest.

The Telegraph reports that 34-year-old Defoe "is thought to have opened talks with Bournemouth immediately after Sunderland's final game of the season." But it adds that he "will want to match his wages at Sunderland, where he was paid around £70,000 a week" and "it remains to be seen whether Bournemouth are put off" by that figure.
