QPR Coach Recounts Hilarious Moment Nigerian International Finds Himself Transfer-Listed
Football is a journey sport. Not everyone has the chance to be a Ryan Giggs or a Francesco Totti to stay at one club for the entirety of their career. For some, the interest or appeal of a bigger club lures them and for some, it is just time up decided by the club.
It is not the easiest thing to do, letting a player know his services would no longer be needed or he would be moved on and most managers in their autobiographies explain the challenge to break the news to these players.
But for ex-Nigerian defender Danny Shittu, he hard to find out the weirdest way.
Responding to a tweet by Hull City's defender Alex Bruce (who was thanking the club for publicly telling him his contract would not be renewed), Marc Bircham used the opportunity to throw light at a situation he and Danny Shittu once found themselves in.
Bircham would make a joke of the situation saying the burly defender "nearly" did not eat his lunch.
Big Dan played 191 times for the R's scoring 16 goals during his two stints with the club.

The current Queens Park Ranger's first team coach would reveal that both him and Shittu would discover they were transfer-listed while eating and watching popular Sky Sports News at the club's canteen! Thanks for letting me know!! All the best 👍🏼 https://t.co/1NhM6aUvls— Alex Bruce (@AlexBruce84) May 24, 2017

@AlexBruce84 Like when me and @danshittu found out we were put on transfer list watching @SkySportsNewsHQ in QPR canteen cause the club needed the money😂— Marc Bircham (@marcbircham) May 24, 2017
The defender would end up joining Watford in the summer of 2006 for £1.6 million. In January of 2017, Shittu would later be inducted into the QPR's Forever R's club for his services to the club.@jameswoods1992 @Oli_B_44 @AlexBruce84 @danshittu @SkySportsNewsHQ Big Dan was that shock he nearly didn't eat his lunch .. I said nearly 😂😂— Marc Bircham (@marcbircham) May 24, 2017
